Out of all the many places a couple could go for a honeymoon, we choose Spain. Why, you may wonder? Well, lots of research and thought went into it. For the longest time, I've wanted to honeymoon somewhere in Europe. Our wedding was at the end of March, so if we wanted warm weather, with an ocean/beach, our options were slightly limited. We also didn't want to travel somewhere that was overcrowded with tourists. Spain checked all those boxes. So we planned accordingly; an almost two week trip at the beginning of April. We were able to book hotels and plane tickets with points we've been saving up, so all we needed to worry about was food, souvenirs, and excursions.

After a very long day of travel, we finally flew into Madrid. We then took a train to Alicante, where our hotel driver picked us up and took us to the Grand Hyatt La Manga Club in Murcia. We spent about four nights here, exploring the areas nearby, including taking a day trip into Cartagena, a port city. It was a somewhat last minute decision to spend a day there, but I'm so grateful we did. Had we not, we wouldn't have been able to explore Roman ruins built somewhere between 5 and 1 BC. We spent a lot of our meals eating at local restaurants, which I 100% recommend (especially the seafood).
From Murcia, we took a train to Barcelona, where we spent four nights there. We explored all of Gaudí's architectural pieces (including Sagrada Familia, of course), ate and drank (coffee and wine), and were in awe of the beautiful, history-filled city. We spent a lot of our time walking, which was a mistake wearing sandal wedges if you knew how big the city is. My husband and I also took a day trip to Montserrat, where an 11th century monastery hid, perched high in the mountains. From there, our tour guide took us to a winery, Oller del Mas, established in the year 964. We were able to taste their delicious wine, and learn about the history of the winery and how they made their special wine.

As our trip slowly began to wrap up, we took our final train ride to Madrid, where we spent a day exploring the city. It was so incredible seeing the Royal Palace, and strolling through the garden pathways of Parque de El Retiro, where kings and queens walked centuries ago. We also had some incredible coffee at Hola Coffee, and happily took a bag of beans home to enjoy.
We loved Spain, and would willingly go back to explore even more of the country. Below, you'll find a sweet, condensed gallery of some favorite snapshots from our time abroad.

With love.
