Aloha Maui

Welcome back to the Chambers Edit! Things just so happened to get busy right after the publication of my blog, but now we're back with another travel diary!

On July 4th, my husband and I traveled cross country from Nashville to Hawaii. What a trek it was! It was almost easier to travel to Europe than go back in time 5 hours. We made it to Seattle, where we met up with his parents and brother. It was such a sweet reunion, being that we haven't seen them since the wedding. From there, we continued our journey to Hawaii. After flying in and stepping out into the open, it was such a nice change in weather compared to the stickiness currently lingering in Tennessee. We drove from the Maui airport to our resort hotel in Ka'anapali. After such a long and exhausting travel day, we decided to grab a late dinner and somewhat enjoy the 4th festivities, although it was very crowded.

Day two we explored, enjoyed our time at the pool and watched the ocean throughout the day, but the evening was my favorite part of the entire trip. We got all dressed up to go on a dinner cruise. The food was delicious, with lots of seafood and original dishes. The views were simply impeccable, from the luscious green island from the bluest of waters to the vibrant sunset closing out our evening boat ride.

On the third day, we decided to explore the island of Maui by embarking on a beautiful, mountain ridge hike. It was the perfect day for it; not too hot, or humid. It was definitely a hike that took your breath away, on both accounts. Again, just seeing the vivid greens and blues meshing was such a sight to see. Unfortunately for my husband and I, we received some strong tan lines post hike, so we all took the rest of the day to chill and have a lovely dinner that evening.

The days that followed were filled with sun, seafood, and swimming, whether that be in the ocean or pool. We celebrated my mother in-law's birthday at an incredible restaurant, which is highly recommended to go to Hawaii to celebrate your birthday, according to her. We ventured on more hikes, beach days, and even tackled snorkeling and exploring the animals that live in the ocean.

Unfortunately for my husband and I, our time away from home had come to a closure, too quickly I'd say. On the evening of July 10th, we said our sweet goodbyes to our family, and began our red-eye back to central time.

The trip was truly beautiful. I'll always remember our moments as a family where we'd share dinner and laugh, our walks on the beach (and some detours into the ocean) back to our hotel. I'll remember it by the vivid blues and greens mixed in everywhere we explored.

Now, if you ever find yourself back on a boat, in Hawaii, around sunset, I'd highly recommend listening to "What a Fool Believes" by The Doobie Brothers…the vibes are immaculate.
